"All is Fair in Love and Bluegrass", so says the No Man's String Band from their last album. The record is the result of three years of growth, lineup changes, and a band that celebrates tradition but is not constrained by it. "We wanted to record music that was undoubtedly bluegrass, entirely us, and completely approachable for lovers of traditional and original music" says mandolinist Nic Hentges. Formed in 2011 the No Man's String Band brings you bluegrass tradition and it's future.
"No Man's String Band truly ventures into places no string band has been before. The group is tight, in tune and original, and possesses a unique voice." says Phil Nusbaum of 88.5 FM Bluegrass Saturday Morning.
Their debut album, "Let The Truth Be Told" was released in 2013. The band began hosting the bluegrass music series "Cuttin' Grass" in 2014 and were featured on a compilation released by Old Hand Record Company. In 2015, they were awarded Champions of the Minnesota Bluegrass and Old Time Music Association's Race For A Place band contest. Since the release of "All is Fair in Love & Bluegrass" in 2016 the band has been honored with regular play on local bluegrass radio and has taken their show to sold out listening rooms, breweries, festivals, clubs, and private events all over Minnesota. Members of the No Man's String include Justin Rosckes on guitar, Melissa Hentges on accordion, Nic Hentges on mandolin, Lindsey Bordner on fiddle, and Pat Loftus on bass. 21st century bluegrass at its finest.
